Using the Keyword Spider to Find the Most Important Theme Words

This tutorial shows how I use the keyword spider to firstly return a big list of theme words, and secondly clean that list so I can concentrate on the most important theme words.

  1. Hi Andy,
Thanks for a very clear and useful video tutorial on using the keyword spider function. Do you tend to use the Google Synonyms function before you use the keyword spider to increase the theme words and phrases?
    Thanks for your help.
    Brenton

    1. Actually Brenton, I dont personally use the Synonym tool at all any more. The spider does such a good job, that I don’t usually find the Synonym generator provides much extra.

  2. I watched this tutorial but I don’t know if you can use your tool for product specific keywords. For example if you search on a model of schwinn bikes, you get lots of shopping results (amazon, nextag, shopping.yahoo.com, etc). And a lot of those pages are image heavy and text light.

So in essence, I am asking, will Web Content Studio work for product specific pages where the results are more ecommerce/shopping cart style and less article style? Have you done any tests with WCS on product pages?

    Thank you.

    Jean.

I actually find that sites like Amazon provide excellent theme words for products, since those pages list features, which in essence are theme words and phrases. However, if you want, you can add Amazon.com (and any other shopping site) to an ignore list, and those pages are then ignored when looking for theme words.
